Saturday 10/24 - The Rotary Club of Brandon's Annual Casino Night was in full swing on Saturday, October 24th at the Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center. Over 100 plus Rotarians joined by family and friends enjoyed a night out highlighted by a very competitive Texas Hold 'Em tournament, two Black Jack tournaments, craps, roulette, great food and even better fellowship. The event was a big success as the club raised funds for the new Rotary Event Center.
While everyone was a winner to some degree, the big winners of the evening were the Texas Hold 'Em champs which included our very own Scott Carter, Mike Carter and Chris Farnsworth. Past President Craig Oldham was the big 50-50 winner and Bob Solano won the Black Jack tournament. There were lots of winners at the end of the evening for the raffle prizes, but John Dwyer got the biggest prize - two private diving lessons with Two-Time Olympian Chris Colwill. John's only dilemma now is to see if he should focus on his cannon ball, belly flop or his Triple Lindey!
A big thank you to Chris Carter for organizing this year's event, Steve Moran for taking on the sponsorship piece, Mike Cessna for getting all of the raffle prizes and BSAC's Eric Soncrant for the program, print collateral and tickets. Big high fives go out to Fred and Barbara Schwabe and Alan and Melanie Feldman for taking on the check in and registration and to Vince Ferraro and Justin Northcutt for making sure all of the financials for the evening were accurate. As always, our Master of Ceremonies, Jeff Reynolds, stepped up to the plate to keep the evening rolling along smoothly at the mic. The most tickets sold award goes to Joe Campoamor who sold 22 tickets to the event! Awesome job, Joe!
The Rotary Club of Brandon couldn't have pulled off the event without the help of all of its Rotarians and their efforts, especially those that sponsored the event. A big thank you to all of the sponsors: Rivard Buick GMC, Platinum Bank, Keller Williams, FBC Mortgage, Bank of Tampa, Larson Plumbing, Infinity Lawn Care, Vantage Benefit Solutions, Schwabe Benefits Group, Insurance Bonds and Benefits, Ferraro Haye's CPA's, Brandon Dental Care, Odiorne Insurance, Sellers Financial, The Reynolds Group at Morgan Stanley and Integrity First Title. Also, a special thanks to On the Mark Catering and Casino Nights for providing the game tables and dealers.
Now with this great event behind us, our focus shifts to our January 21st golf tournament and our March 4th Wild Game Dinner. Committees will be forming shortly, and we ask that ALL Rotarians take a part in making these events a success. All of the proceeds from the upcoming events go directly to the charities that we have chosen to support. Troy Dimsdale (Golf Tournament) and Joe Campoamor (Wild Game Night) will be contacting all of you soon.
Way to go, Rotary Club of Brandon!
It is an extra special time this week for the Rotary Club of Brandon as we welcome six new members to our Club who have all transferred from the Rotary Club of Valrico. The Brandon Rotary welcomes Ryan Burley, David Magann, Chris McGuire, Danielle DeCarbo, Michael Hayes and Jeff Campbell. All of these community leaders continue to be outstanding Rotarians, and we are very excited to have them all become a part of our Rotary Club of Brandon family! Welcome!
Our meeting this week will highlight a recap of our Casino Night's success with a reminder to all Rotarians to hand in ticket and sponsorship money to Justin Northcutt so we can reconcile the event. We also need Rotarians to fill our Dragon Boat for Saturday, November 7th at the Brandon '86 Seafood Fest so we can defend our championship! District 6890 has the Rotary Leadership Institute this weekend as well as the Annual Paul Harris Gala which will be held at Saddlebrook on Saturday, November 14th. We are encouraging all Rotarians to consider going to this prestigious event to support the efforts of our district leadership and Rotary International. As a reminder to all Rotarians, please get with President Chuck or Secretary Debbie Meegan to insure that your information in DACDB is correct, especially your address, birthday and spouse's name. Kimberly Rivard is sending out invites to our Annual Holiday Party hosted by the Rivard's, and she needs this information to be both accurate and given to her in a timely fashion!
Our annual seafood fest dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th at Rotary's Camp Florida, so please make sure to get with John Dwyer as to your intentions to attend and whether you are wanting lobster or steak. Cade Rivard and David Sigler are both co-chairing this evening, so let's make sure to show these new Rotarians as much support as we can! Thanks, guys for taking the lead! NO REGULAR WEEKLY MEETING TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th!
Big Celebrations this week include Joe Campoamor's birthday - November 1st, Tom and Kelli Odiorne's 24th wedding anniversary - November 9th, and several Rotary Club anniversaries including Lee Elam's 40th year as a Rotarian, Michael Hayes' 18th, Sheila Donalson's 4th and Loren Pott's 1st! Thank you all for your service!
Our Thanksgiving holiday luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, November 24th. Please let President Chuck know if you will be attending and how many will be in your party for the day so we can give the loft enough notice to be prepared.
