Our weekly meeting started with welcoming several guests to lunch with the hopes that they will continue to visit us and join our Club as active, impact-making members in the future. Roger Rivard discussed the Zoning Hearing that took place Monday, June 15th at the Board of County Commissioners meeting room. Several Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Brandon, Brandon 86, Brandon South and the Rotary Club of Valrico all attended toImage support the Rotary Event Center initiative. We will now wait for the Zoning Hearing Master's recommendation prior to going before the BOCC in August for more discussion and their vote.

President Craig also encouraged Rotarians to join the S4TL Rap Session this week and the July 11th District-wide membership seminar in Bartow. He reminded the incoming board of directors and officers that they would be meeting afterwards with newly installed President Chuck Burgess for their first meeting to discuss the overall plans for the 2015-16 Rotary year.

This past week's meeting also had fellow Rotarian Shelia Donalson bring in Brandon's very own Honorary Mayor, Liz Brewer, to talk about her time as Honorary Mayor and to tell the club about The Brandon Foundation. The Club was informed of all of the great things that the Brandon Foundation has done over the past several years and its current mission, vision and impact in the Greater Brandon community. Liz discussed their annual Pro/Am golf tournament, their Annual Coffee Breakfast, Evening of Hope and this year's big Masquerade Ball. All of these events are geared toward supporting the over 100 charities which apply annually for a support grant as well as families that have experienced a catastrophic event or a terminal illness in their life which is supported by their Angel Program. Liz discussed the many ways that Rotarians, business leaders and the general public can get involved by volunteering, donating, forming an Angel Team or participating in their Annual Giving Difference Maker program.

Liz also talked about the great time she has had being this year's Honorary Mayor of Brandon, her husband Jeff who owns Patriot Arms and her role as a business leader and mother in our community.

President Craig reminded the Club that there was a meeting next week, Tuesday, June 23rd and NO MEETING on Tuesday, June 30th. The Club would meet again on Tuesday, July 7th for President Chuck Burgess's first meeting. Chuck will be the speaker for the day to discuss the overall plans and goals for the 2015-16 Rotary Year. This would be a great meeting to bring potential members to get them excited about the awesome things that we have planned for the year. You don't want to miss it!
